Face to a risk of a persisting blocking minority in the Council, the Rail sector – gathering CER, UNIFE, ERFA, UITP, UIP, EPTTOLA UIRR and UIC - decided to join forces and address strongly to the Council and Member States. ERFA Secretary General Pierre Tonon reminded: “We are building together since already 20 years a new global European Railway System in a fully open market. This system – to be finalized with the 4thRP - has to be European – and not Member States – driven. Why? Because we strongly need harmonized, simplified and far less costly operational cross-border processes to finally allow the railways becoming more competitive. There is urgency to re-enforce the ERA and give it the power to lead and control the processes! ”
