ERFA seeks new Secretary General

ERFA seeks new Secretary General

ERFA will begin the search for a new Secretary General to lead the activities of the association in Brussels. ERFA, founded in 2002, acts as the voice for private and independent rail freight companies active in the European Union. The Secretary General will be responsible for leading the activities of the association in Brussels.

The search for a new Secretary General was triggered by the resignation of Conor Feighan from the position. Mr. Feighan will remain in his position until 31 October and will return to Ireland to continue his career. Since taking up the role in August 2019, Mr. Feighan has played an important role in European rail freight policy, specifically leading calls for legislation allowing for the waiving and reduction of track access charges in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and work on the anticipated Regulation on Railway Infrastructure Capacity Management.

ERFA will now begin the process of recruiting a new Secretary General. The application process will remain open until 24 September. ERFA will then bring a shortlisted group of candidates forward to interview.

ERFA President, Dirk Stahl, stated, “many thanks to Conor Feighan, who started in 2019 parallel to my presidentship. He had great contributions to the development of the association and the influence we had on important rail transport topics. It has been also a pleasure to jointly build up our yearly ERFA event as an important rail freight sector event with high level panel discussions and increasing participation.”

ERFA Vice-President, Maciej Gladyga, continued, “The success of any organisation is always rooted in the competence and commitment of the team behind its activities. I had the privilege of serving as an ERFA Board Member throughout the period in which Conor held the role of Secretary General. He was consistently devoted to his work, approaching his responsibilities with independence and integrity. For the Board Members, he was not only a reliable colleague but also an inspiring and valued partner in discussion.”

ERFA Secretary General, Conor Feighan, concluded, “I have been honoured to lead the ERFA team in Brussels for the past six years. Whilst there have been many challenges for rail freight during this time, I have enjoyed working with many people dedicated to the development of the industry. I would like to use this opportunity to thank all ERFA members for the trust placed in me over the past years.”
