During its General Assembly meeting on 10 September 2024, ERFA members elected two new members to the ERFA Board of Directors, Mr. Raphaël Doutrebente of Europorte and Mr. Denny Jünemann of Die Güterbahnen. The General Assembly also took the opportunity to thank outgoing board members for their contribution to European rail freight policy over the past years.
Mr. Doutrebente joins in his capacity as Chairman of Europorte. Europorte is the first private rail freight operator in France and transported 1.8 billion net tonne-kilometers in 2023. Mr. Jünemann (TX Logistik) joins the Board of Directors as the representative for Die Güterbahnen, the German association representing more than 110 private rail freight companies. Mr. François Coart of Europorte, Mr. Matthias Knüpling of VTG and Mr. Wolfgang Groß of Die Güterbahnen all ended their mandates on the ERFA Board of Directors. The General Assembly recognizes their extraordinary contribution to the association over their time as board members.
Mr. Stahl and Mr. Gladyga were also re-elected to the Board of Directors and will continue in their roles as ERFA President and Vice-President respectively. Both will remain in their position until ERFA Presidential elections in 2025.
ERFA President, Dirk Stahl, stated, “firstly, I would like to offer my thanks to Mr. Coart, Mr. Knüpling and Mr. Groß for their commitment over the past years. They have played an active role in developing European rail freight policy. Members contributions are the lifeblood of associations such as ERFA. With this, I also look forward to working closely with Mr. Doutrebente and Mr. Jünemann.”
ERFA Secretary General, Conor Feighan, concluded, “Mr. Doutrebente and Mr. Jünemann begin their two-year mandates at an important moment. We expect a new European Commissioner for Transport to be appointed before the end of the year. Now is an important moment in ensuring rail freight is taken up as a priority topic for the coming legislative cycle.”
